On Friday, September 13th at 9:40 pm we arrived in Halifax. Ken, Jeff and Randy of the Falmouth Tug-of-War Team were waiting for us and they took us to our Motel in Windsor.
The next morning after meeting with Ken and his wife for breakfast we drove to Jeff's place. On our way we stopped at Ken's to inspect his pond.

At Jeff's we trained with the Falmouth Team and we had a chance to show each other the different styles of tug-of-war.

At 5:00 pm on Saturday we were getting ready for the competition.
Here we are getting weighed in an cattle scale.

We competed in a TWIF style competition against Falmouth, Martock and Stewiacke. At this competition we did not loose an end and came in first place with Falmouth finishing in second place.
Falmouth and Bluewater had qualified for the final at 11:30pm but this time the pulling was done under Nova Scotia rules where teams pull with 10 athletes and at the beginning of the pull the teams get 2 minutes to dig some holes. The anchor can tie in and passing the rope through your hands is allowed. The winning team has to pull all 10 members of the opponent team across the finish line or in our case touch the boards at the end of the arena.

Teams are also allowed to use the "Backlock"

The Falmouth team won the final and came in first place. Congratulations! Thank you to all the members of the Falmouth Team for giving us the opportunity to show you the TWIF style of tug-of-war and for showing us your style of tug-of-war. We will be back to pull you again. After the competition we went back to Jeff's place for a few hours to finish the leftovers from lunch.

Harbor at Peggys Cove At 7:15 pm we took off from Halifax for our 2 hour and 15 minute flight to Toronto. We had a great weekend and we are looking forward to having the Falmouth Team come to Ontario to our International Tournament in June 2003 |
