INTERNATIONAL
TOURNAMENT

Bluewater International.
April 16th 2001

Wonderful Occasion:
The excitement is growing with just about eight weeks to our first ever Bluewater International.
Bringing this level of competition to Canada and to our own region should be of great interest to the public and a real lift for the sport. With the Swiss who are number one in the World, Latvia close behind plus Germany and our friends from the U.S.A. sending teams, this should make for good tug-of-war. The choice of venue is an excellent one with all the facilities right on the grounds. We will be able to accommodate the teams, provide meals and entertainment without having to use transportation.
The Bluewater club has worked hard over the last few years to improve our teams and to give the sport as high a profile as is possible in Canada. The reward for this is that other countries are now willing to come here and compete against our teams. Personally I believe that Canada can one day win a World Championship if we continue to compete against the best and improve our teams. To do this demands a lot of dedication and a close alliance to the believes and ideals of our International body TWIF. The club is preparing diligently for this event and with half our team under eighteen we want to get the most we can from this experience.
On the 16th and 17th of June at Centralia in Southern Ontario we are going to have a lot of fun doing what we love to do pull tug-of-war. We hope that the public will come out and enjoy the sport at this level. This is a rare opportunity to do this with teams from around the world.

Jim Connolly, Coach.
